poking out standoff?

what is the small metal standoff that doesn't take a screw in my case? it's like a protruding metal knob that doesn't fit into any hole on the mobo?

as long as you are taking about industry standard case (ATX, microATX, etc), any built in standoff should fit your mobo. you just gotta line it up properly. check you case (google it) and see what size and mobo standard it takes, and check your mobo standard, and match it up. It should fit, if these are compatible by standard.
