in 2013 my computer got blocked by the ABU DHABI POLICE GHQ CASHU VIRUS which is actually a Trojan:W32/Reveton. i was able to clean it by going into safe mode. back then i wasn't using a proper antivirus on my laptop so i got infected

i remembered what has happened to me in the past and i am wondering if i am safe from that virus now. currently i am using kaspersky internet security 2019 and it blocks some adware websites when they open as a popup thus i am guessing that it should block a website that has that virus. am i right?

i read this article https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...-reveton-police-ransomware-jailed-by-uks-nca/ which said that the hacker responsible for that virus was jailed. he used to blackmail porn websites and other websites and he forced them to put the virus in their advertisements. are all those advertisements deleted by now?

What OS are you running? You should be upgrading to Windows 10 soon. Support will end this January, so it won't receive updates, while Windows 10 gets updated frequently. You can download the media creation tool from Microsoft and upgrade for free.

Well, any security suite will probably block browsing to any website that has known infection vectors, with "known" being the key word.

It is still entirely possible for people to mask things strategically, so that's no guarantee.

Quietman7, a security expert who is an active contributor on Bleeping Computer, has written extensively on what you (any you) need to do to develop safe interaction habits with cyberspace. The following four are, in my opinion, must-reads:
