I recently upgraded my internet connection to a fibre optic connection. I was only getting speeds of 2MB/s and was tearing my hair out, as I had been getting 6MB/s on wifi on my old ADSL connection.
I did a full reset on my Windows 8 laptop. It had been running Windows 8.1
When this finished, I ran a speed test, and was getting the download speeds that I should be. I updated all my drivers (wifi, LAN, graphics etc) and re-ran the speed test, and was still getting high speed internet.
I then ran Windows Update, downloaded and installed everything and then ran ANOTHER speed test. Now my connection speed is awful, under 2MB/s.
The hardware is Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn wifi card and a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller for ethernet. Both drivers are up to date.
Can anyone help?
