Hey there, people of the internet. I am quite confused about some things. For 2 years now have I been paying for a 200 MBit/s download speed connection and got 2mb download in many platforms. (Steam, Blizzard, Uplay, and so on.) I am running a Drei Neo ( View: https://i.imgur.com/ypWzPtJ.png
) of which I got when I subscribed to Drei. I currently live in Austria. I would just like to ask if all this is normal. I would also like to mention that somehow, at random intervals of times, but mainly around 3-5 AM (nightowl, don't ask) I had download speeds of over 11 MB on the aforementioned platforms. Thanks for your time reading this! :)

Solution
This really looks like a ISP issue especially since it is affected by time of day.

How does the internet come into the house. The router you use is not real common and most stuff I find talks about LTE which is a mobile broadband (ie cellphone) network.

If you have something like a cable modem or something like a fiber ONT you should be able to directly hook your PC to that and see if it is the router causing the issue. Things like cable modems also have a number of diagnostic screens that might give you a clue to the problem.

If this actually is coming in over LTE there likely is just massive usage of internet on the cell tower you are using. The vendor quote unrealistic speeds on the platforms unlike most cable modems...

First thing you need to do is baseline your perofmance with a wired connection to your router. If it is poor, then try a bootable Linux USB and retest to eliminate any software problems. Check your performance with speedtest.net .

I am on a wired connection ever since I have the said internet. Not really that it's poor as much as it performs way under my calculations? As said I pay for a service which offers 200 MBit/s download, with a upload speed of only 50 MBit/s ( View: https://i.imgur.com/IrOeFjZ.jpg
) From my calculations, using the google's convertor unit I should divide the 200 MBit/s to 8, so ( View: https://i.imgur.com/OGZt0Lb.jpg
) If I am right? Of course I do understand I won't get to that speed, like, ever but just 2 mb download is taking really long for a massive download of 50 or so gb. Here's 3 one-after-another tests done on Speedtest.net ( View: https://imgur.com/a/VBVMl3l
)

So my problem is that the download speed is low, not that the connection is poor, my bad!

And the usual speed I get when downloading is, uh... 2 to 3 mb. Never really goes higher during the day. I think once since I have been with drei did I get 5 mb download speed on Steam.

Edit1: I have to mention, from my tests now, the speed difference while wired or connected wirelessly (my pc has a wireless chip on it's motherboard) have the same speed.

Edit2: As 2 years passed and my contract with them is out, I have been contemplating about switching to Kabelplus. Don't really know the best options around me, but I want to use this as the last solution.

The vendor quote unrealistic speeds on the platforms unlike most cable modems where you generally get a small bit more than they state. You would only get those speeds on the LTE if you had very strong signal and few other people are using the same tower as you.

It might be. The internet is basically a SIM which is introduced into a small rectangular box which sits underneath the router. I am going to change my internet provider as soon as this Corona crisis goes to Magenta Fiber. I don't really know how to check which would be the best ISP's in the area available really. Also I do have a phone app to which I can control the router to my likings, up to certain limits. I can enable 'guest' wifi, for one-time use and such stuff.

So far I am looking at this. ( View: https://i.imgur.com/KgkQIo6.jpg

Any thoughts?

Thank you for your reply.

Yeah, sorry for the late reply! It's only a small router doing the whole work so, it's LTE and the connection is bad. Thanks and I'll see how can I get a fiber connection instead.
