Poor overclock with FX-8350

Been trying to overclock my CPU for the past hour or so and I am a bit disappointing with the results I've obtained.

First of all, I was unable to overclock my CPU at all without raising it's voltage. I've raised my CPU manual voltage from 1.3125v to 1.3250v. With this I can get to 4.1GHz (x20.5). So far it seems to be stable (I haven't ran a full stress test yet).

I'd like to be able to overclock further since 4.1GHz isn't much compared to the other OCs I've seen even with stock coolers and voltages although my socket temp reaches 71 C at it's current OC. It doesn't seem like I can go much further within safe temps.

I've been following this guide. I've left LLC at Auto (see M5A97 notes) and have not configured most from DIGI+ simply because I couldn't find those settings.

So, my questions are
- Is it normal to need to raise the voltage on my CPU immediately after raising the clock speed?
- What can I do to obtain a better overclock?

Got 4.2GHz stable with socket temp spiking up to 76 C and core to 61.4C. Any idea as to what the bottleneck would be if I wanted to take my overclock further?
