Thermaltake Toughpower Grand PSU 850W

Im having issues pushing anything above 120 frames in whatever titles im playing.

is there anything really wrong with my system?

First post here! sorry if i posted anything incorrectly.

I unfortunately don’t have another SSD.. with boxing weeks sales on I could pick up some ram a psu and a SSD. I’ll try DDU again tomorrow when I wake up. If not I’ll go pick up some new parts.
Picking up random new parts is just a waste of money. If the system was working well and your userbenchmark score is good it’s very unlikely to be RAM and I also think it’s unlikely it’s the psu. Suddenly loosing performance is more likely a software/driver/heat issue.

What are the cpu and gpu temperatures when in game?
What games?
What resolution?
What settings?
Ray tracing on or off?

Fps can be greatly different from game to game.

For instance COD cold war zombies I can achieve a pretty stable 144hz @ 1440p on high with my 6900xt & 3700x cpu. But bf2042 is low 100's at the same settings. Both with ray tracing off as that tanks performance.

Fortnite
Warzone
Mine craft sometimes
1080p resolution all low settings for competitive games. I do play a lot of the Witcher 3 and that’s also running terrible. Regardless if it’s maxed or on medium low.
I always have ray tracing off. I have a 240hz monitor (XL2546k) it bothers me I can’t reach anywhere close to 24. I’m coming from a Nvidia 2080 which somehow ran better in almost every way.

Did you use DDU to uninstall the old NVidia driver before installing the AMD driver?

Ultimately with a 6900XT running a low resolution like 1080p your fps will nearly always be determined by the cpu/RAM combination. However I would expect the performance to be at a minimum similar to your 2080.
Yeah I used DDU to uninstall all of the old drivers and it worked well for a bit now all of a sudden it’s not great.. I may try a new power supply or maybe switch out for some new ram, not sure if that’ll help. I’m new to all this

If it worked well and then started having problems it is unlikely RAM or PSU. Try removing the AMD driver with DDU and then reinstalling.

Do you have another SSD you can try installing a game or 2 on? Ussrbenchmark says your current SSD is performing quite poorly.

The temps are pretty good, my gpu doesn’t use more than 50%…. Lol. It’s not using its full potential. Cpu temps are actually great. This is why I’m so confused, everything other than my SSD is fine in my eyes.
Ram and psu shouldn't be holding you back,

Which Drive do you have the games on?

Also that SSD IS SLOW!! That might be the issue...

Our systems aren't terribly dissimilar and our 6900XT scores are pretty close.

my games are on the solid state, yeah it could be the solid state!

Yeah man, something is off. For whatever reason your GPU isn't capping out, something is holding it back.

For all intents & purposes your CPU & Ram should make for a stronger gaming rig than mine.

You don't happen to have Radeon Chill enabled in Radeon Software do you?

Should be under the Graphics sub tab.

I have all of those settings turned off, I watched a YouTube video and followed whatever he did lol.

Thanks guys, I’ll try everything you guys have said. I’ll try a new sata cable first before a clean wipe. Oh ya my gpu is in the top slot closest to my cpu, I’ve also tried it in the one lower with the same results.

Definitely update windows now if it's not already updated.., might want to consider rolling back the GPU drivers to something like 21.11.3 and see if that helps.

Also make sure to use dedicated cables for the GPU, so two separate cables from the PSU to the 6900xt. Not the split ones.

I've read turning on direct x 12 in games can help, not all games allow you to do that, but Fortnite should

Oh my… I’ve been using two split cables for the gpu.. I don’t have any other 8 pin connectors so I’ve been using the 6pin +2pin thing… is that the issue? Any good brands of cables I should buy? The psu is thermal take should I maybe Amazon some thermal take psu cables?

Cool man!

Since it's not an AMD direct/reference card make sure you're using the drivers from the manufacturers website. Apparently some cards will work worse if you just use the AMD.com drivers.
That’s what I just did I read the manual for the card and I went to their site :) Warzone still runs like ass but that’s just Warzone. I’m still going to upgrade some internals of my pc to see if that helps as well, I need a new SSD. Thanks for the replies!
