[SOLVED] Poor performande please help!

First off I'm 10-15 years behind on pc tech so forgive me. I have been slowly piece by piece acquiring parts for a vr pc. It took me 2 years due to my lack of income. I've been sold broken boards, dead ram, but thru the hassle I finally got together something at least reccommended specs for oculus. So... after the downloads and all drivers and blah blah I jump in and it is choppy as hell. Laggy. Really really unplayable. note I AM using virtual desktop so some lag and poor performance I understand but it's just horrible even on the older lower graphic titles. Please help me I dont know why this is running like <Mod Edit>... here's my specs.
Board - Asrock fatal1ty b250 gaming k4
CPU - i5 7500
GPU - sapphire r9 290 tri-x oc edition
8 gigs of ram
M.2 ssd and 2.5 ssd
PSU- 750 watt game max
Windows 10 64 bit
Gpu drivers are updated.
Bios (uefi) is updated
Help!

I would start with 16GB of memory.

Agreed but 8 gbs is meeting oculus reccommended specs. It shud be a smooth experience is what they say. Something else is going on.

Actually it reads 8GB+

Run it and see if your using all your memory.
Edit also check you CPU and GPU temps.

Tech companies don't exactly have a great track record for telling the truth when it comes to recommended specs.
