I built a new desktop with following mobo

TRX40 AORUS MASTER (rev. 1.0)

and used this RAM

Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 128GB (4x32GB) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C18 Desktop Memory - Black, Model: CMW128GX4M4D3600C18

I've Dell G5 laptop on which I upgraded the RAM to this :

Samsung 32GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM Memory Module for Laptop Computers (260 Pin SODIMM, 1.2V) M471A4G43MB1

I plan to use extra RAM as ramdisk and to that end I benchmarked both system using CrystalDiskMark

Here are the results : CORSAIR

I am unsure why the desktop RAM is performing poor compared to my laptop RAM.

Any ideas on improving the results on desktop?

Thanks !

Solution
Not here since I am running it on Ram Disk not SSD.

I meant if you want to diagnose ram speed issues you have to have a utility like SiSoftware to investigate ram timings, SPD info, XMP profile, ect...CrystalDisk is a good raw performance tool...I've used it for years.

If I had to guess why the differences between the two platforms the fact that they use entirely different memory subsystems would likley be the cause. Intels ringbus is known to have better latency than AMDs infinity fabric design chips...its the primary reason Intel retains a slight edge in gaming performance at this point even on their relatively old 14nm process.

Don't understand, what's the connection between Theradripper and that laptop ?
