Poor video quality in windows 7

I have been having this very annoying problem for over 2 months now. I'm running windows 7 ultimate 64-bit and Most video on my pc looks very pixelated. I was able to get vlc to work correctly again with an update to the latest version and wmp seems to work fine too. I'm still having very low quailty video in my slingplayer, skype video and certain flash videos on the internet. I have been searching google for any possible solution like using an older video card driver, a vista driver, and adding codec's but nothing seems to work. I'm not really sure if it's an Nvidia,windows, or a flash problem.

intel core 2 quad q6600
4gb ddr2 ram
soundblaster xi-fi extreme gamer
2 nvidia 8800gts cards in sli

my pc has 2 monitors plugged into it and i'm using ultramon

I also have my cpu oc'd to 3ghz, so i put it back to stock speeds and still have the poor video qaulity so that wasn't it.

I would get rid of all codecs
you don't need them in Win7. VLC has everything that you would normally need.
If they have an installer, i've always been a fan of using Revo Uninstaller (free version) to uninstall programs ect.
make sure you have the latest video card drivers, and that the card is seated correctly in the mobo. Sometimes just one pin miss aligned can really mess w/ things.

I am gonna take a shot in the dark here... are the video files hd quality? or sd? and what resolution s your monitor.. it sounds like you are playing low quality video on a higher def monitor...

Check the resolution of the video you're playing. If you play a 320 x 240 or even a 640 x 480 video on a 1920 x 1200 monitor, there's just no way it's going to look crisp.

The screenshot you posted looks like a TV channel. Even though the channel logo says "HD", that's no guarantee that whatever source you're playing is, in fact, HD. I see those nice HD logos on my ancient 20" CRT television, and they sure as heck don't make it HD.

I'm running both my monitors at 1680x1050. that picture has my slingbox sending my pc sd video but it looks worse then it should. Its an hd channel but my slingbox only does sd resolution so I know I wont be seeing it threw hd. it may be hard to see in that picture but it is very pixelated and looks worse then it use to on windows vista. I have a dell laptop and the video from the slingbox plays just fine on that without this pixelation problem. It's not just limited to my slingbox though, some flash videos i play online have the same problem. Youtube videos seem fine but, videos from other sites have the pixelation problem. when im using skype to do video chat i also get pixelation over the whole video.Something in windows 7 must have changed because its causing a video rendering problem. I'm starting to consider going back to windows vista because its a very anoying problem.

at 1680x1050 a 720×480 picture will look awful. No matter what. I don't know what was going on in your vista machine, but i doubt its the OS that causes your picture to look bad.
If your Dell laptop has a lower resolution than your PC (something closer to 720×480), then you wont have as much pixelation.

If you have the Flash 10.1 Beta, then it will make video look pixelated(but this will not effect anything else). As for the rest of the video, check if there is some noise reduction features on your video card that is turned off(should work on most mpeg1,2,4 files).

I would not say that videos upscaled(from dvd->1920x1200) tend to be blocky, fuzzy edged? yes, blocky/pixelated? no.

Seriously... I know that problem is outdated a lot, but I hope I'll never have problems that some of you guys trying to resolve. It's just pity! Man describes real problem, known problem with directx/no-directx output (with/without smooth while resizing) and you says bulls**ts like "at 1680x1050 a 720×480 picture will look awful no matter what", "it is def a lower res movie being played on a higher res monitor" etc. Guys! If you DON'T KNOW and if you're lamers, then stop even trying to help anyone! You're making internet very bad dirty place. If other guys start thinking that you know anything and will repeat stupid things after you, then computer era ends and we back to calculators.
