I woke my PC from hibernate and there was a popping sound followed by a few seconds of "crackling" sounds. Then I smelled burning (rubber/plastic smell) from the PC and shut it off. I turned it on again after the smell went and it seems to be running fine. The PC did not shut down on its own when the smell happened. Should I be worried?

I inspected it but couldn't find any damage, although I'm not very experienced with this. Can anyone advise on this please?

Solution
I think the best you can do is sniff around and look around. Sometimes you can smell where the burnt smell came from even after a long time.

You can check your PSU voltages in HWInfo (freeware).

They should be +12, +5 and + 3.3 +/-5%.
"Should I be worried?"
Well whatever it was....it wasn't good.....but being you are seeing no effects from it (at least yet).....perhaps something shorted that you aren't using and perhaps you will never use.

I would run it and see what happens....because you already inspected it and didn't find anything.....so I don't see much else to do at this point.

do you think there could be something wrong with the PSU? Is there anything I can do or run to find out the problem?

Just checked them and they are: 5.000 V, 3.344 - 3.360 V & 12.096 - 12.192. Seems fine for now, thank you for the information!
