I built my pc approximately 2 months ago and, so far, have found no considerable problems with anything. However, since this was the first computer i have build myself i am somewhat paranoid about having made any mistakes. This brings me onto worrying about a particular popping/clicking noise i hear after turning my computer off:
- The noise does not occur immediately after turning off, but after 5-10 minutes, and it may occur multiple times randomly, sometimes sounding slightly differently
- The noise only occurs when turning my computer off after i have used it fairly intensively i.e. for gaming, and therefore leads me to believe it occurs when the computer is cooling down quickly after being fairly hot
- It is difficult to tell precisely where the noise is coming from, but i am sure it is not to psu or the hdd, as these are quite spread away from the source of the sound.
- My room is fairly cold at this time of year, so it seems reasonable that the warm components of the computer would cool fairly quickly after i have turned my pc off.
- The dark rock pro 3 was a bit of a pain to mount so i worry that something could be wrong with it (although i installed it very carefully and i am fairly sure i made no mistakes).
My specs are:
i5 6600k @4.2GHz
be quiet! dark rock pro 3
Asus maximus VIII hero
Corsair vengeance LPX ram
Samsung 850 Evo 250gb ssd, WD Blue 1Tb hdd
Msi gtx 1070 gaming X
Phanteks enthoo evolv ATX mid tower case
EVGA Supernova 750 G2
My cpu sits at about 20C at idle and rarely goes above 45-50C on normal gaming, with the gpu reaching about 60C when the fan will kick in and stabilise the temp.
Can anyone think of what the sound could be? Should i be worried?
Thanks in advance for any assistance🙂
