I consider myself a heavy gamer and lately i have been having all kinds of trouble with GTA V Online on PS4 and Dota 2 on PC, in GTA i got to the point where online doesn't work anymore and i am getting network errors all the time even though i am on a DMZ server which should by default have all ports open.

I downloaded a port checker and i figured out that some of the required ports are closed even on a DMZ Server IP and while looking on my ISP website i found that i could ask for a static IP at additional cost but i am not really sure if that's going to help or not.

I have a WAG120N router and i am running the latest firmware.

WIN + R -> "cmd" -> "ipconfig" -> Copy IP of default gateway, often 192.168.0.1 -> paste into browser -> login username:"admin" password:"admin" (without quotes) -> go to port forwarding -> forward needed ports

A static IP won't help. It won't open any more ports that may be closed, which is likely due to other reasons.

You state only some ports are closed. Are other ports working fine to your knowledge? You likely have a problem elsewhere.

Double check your configuration. It's possible the ISP has blocked some ports, especially if there is an extraordinary amount of traffic on a particular port.

When using DMZ all are closed and some are stealthed and only 2 are open according to this https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2.

Has it worked in the past? Has anything changed since it worked last?

What kind of network errors are you getting? Are you sure it's related to ports being closed? Any other specific error messages?

Network errrors in GTA Online and constantly connecting to empty lobbies, and it's related to ports being closed according to Rockstar Support.

Not sure if it worked in the past i always used the dmz server on PS4 and i didn't have as much trouble but i never checked using a port checker to see if ports are actually closed or not.

Have you check to see if the PS4's IP address hasn't changed and is no longer in the DMZ?

Since it appears it may have worked at least partially in the past on both the PS4 and PC, you should consider

- contacting your ISP to find if there are ports being blocked inadvertently or other network changes/problems affecting your service.
- replacing the router
- placing the WAG120N in bridge mode and using your own router to perform port forwarding / DMZ.

I had a D-Link 2730U and i recently replaced it with the WAG 120N so it's a new router. I also called my ISP and they are clueless over the ports .

Can you explain more on how the bridge mode could help?

Bridge mode turns the WAG120N into a modem-only device. Routing (and wifi) will be disabled, meaning you provide your own wireless router from which you will perform port forwarding and DMZ setting. In essence it will allow you to use a better or more reliable router.

That is assuming the router is at fault, and from the information given it appears to be the culprit at this point.

Router is new and out of the box, pretty sure it's not that.

Right now i tried forwarding certain ports TCP\UDP and some of them still shows up as closed and i called the ISP and they said they dont know anything about that.

Alright i wiped all the port forwarding settings and dropped the DMZ and started all over:

Every single one of those ports is open according to PFPort Checker (Dont know if that's reliable if you have something better hit me up with it). So that rules out the ISP closing these ports? isn't weird they are closed on DMZ still?

Since you are configuring through port forwarding rules, the PS4 doesn't need to be in the DMZ. The reverse is true if you put the PS4 in the DMZ...no port forwarding would be necessary.

That port check tool should be accurate, so your ports should be open and available from the Internet.

About this whole bridge thing, i have an old D-link router if i use that as a bridge can i connect my PS4 to it rather than the router and use it directly via pppoe? also all of the routers here have dsl cable slots for main slots instead of ethernet so how will i be able to connect the main line and another router at the same time?

As you can see below when using the dmz server IP all ports show as closed:
