Hey Toms com,

I have a Netgear DM111p v2 ADSL2+ Modem and I'm trying to play PS4 but I can't sign into PSN. I think the problem has to do with my firewalls.... I found many videos and tutorials on how to fix the issue although I do not seem to have the same options in my Netgear settings window, others that i have seen in videos have many more options on the left hand side (Option tabs that I don't have but seem to need) please view attached image in link, this is all have to work with:

file:///Users/macbook/Desktop/Screen%20Shot%202018-01-25%20at%207.59.54%20PM.png

If anyone can help me to either locate these settings, or know of a way to fix the issue let me know (don't want to buy a new router as this PS4 is only temporary, looking after it while a friend is overseas)

Solution
NAT type 2 means you got the port forwarding part right ... gratz!

The error code indicates a time out, which usually means data packets are delayed or lost.

Many of these test require a PC on the network .. we will hope you have one.

Ping test ...

1. Open a command prompt and enter "tracert google.com"
2. In the command prompt, enter "ping x.x.x.x -n 50" where x.x is the first IP address in the tracert. This should be your router and will test your local network. The result should be a very low ping (1ms) and no packets lost.
3. In the command prompt, enter "ping x.x.x.x -n 50" where x.x is the 2nd IP address in the tracert. This should be your ISP gateway. The result should be a low ping (20ms or less) and no packets lost.
4...
The firewall should not stop you from signing into PSN, but it can stop you for some of the advanced features (chat, peer-to-peer, etc). You may have already done this, but lets check anyway.

On the PS4 go to the settings screen. Go down to network. In network, click Test Internet Connection. You should get a screen that looks like this:
https://portforward.com/networking/static-ip-ps4/ps4-test-successful.jpg
Do you get success on each? What NAT type does it say?

When you try to log into PSN, do you get an error message? What is it?

Everything but the PSN works: it says "cannot connect to the PSN within the time limit" Error code (CE-33987-0)

The NAT type is: Type 2

I have an apple air port express if that makes any difference... but I am using an ethernet cable.

Let us know if you see an issue here ... otherwise, we will move on to other things.
