I am basically trying to make a Tekkit Legends server for myself and my friends. I have a BT home hub 4 router. I have port forwarded both tcp and udp to 25565, and assigned that to my pc under "tekkit legends server". I used this - http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ - to check if my ports were open, and I checked using my Ipv4 address and my external IP address, and it says that both ports are closed. I have also disabled my firewall, and this has not effected anything. I can join my server using either "localhost" or my Ipv4 address, the external address doesn't work for me though, but nothing works for my friends - they get an error message saying "failed to connect connection timed out: connect". I am sort of lost at what to do now to fix it, so I could do with some help... Thanks in advance - Rambo

In addition to opening those ports on the box you're hosting the server from you also need to configure port forwarding on your networking gear. Please elaborate on your networking setup.

Slightly confused as to what you mean...

I have already allowed inbound and outbound rules for both TCP and UDP (port 25565) in my firewall if that is what you are talking about

Im sort of wondering whether my ISP is blocking the TCP protocol or something because the UDP protocol works just fine - (port 25565 is open on it)

It's possible, you can always call them up. Seems kind of odd that they would, but I guess stranger things have happened. What if you specifically create a rule for UDP and TCP separately instead of using the both option?

I have tried it, but it made no difference.

I agree that the OS firewall should be checked -where do you see that he has the ports open in OS?

Try disabling OS firewall ?
