Port Forwarding Issues

I am trying to access my router page to port forward a Minecraft server (I know, I know, Minecraft nerd) and I am having some issues. My Wi-Fi has a username and password, and when I type the default gateway into the URL bar, it asks for them. I know what it is asking for since I have port forwarded on my old router. I type in the username and password, and hit OK, and it just erases the username and password fields. This happens no matter how many times I enter the information. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

What router do you have? The default passwords can vary from router to router.

I have an Asus router, but I know the username and password as I have changed them from the default.

Then I would suggest resetting the device to factory default, and set it up again. maybe that would allow you to access the router controls.
