I have a segate 500b hard disk.
Whenever i copy files to the hard disk it copies properly but the problem is when i want to copy the files from the hard disk to another system it does not copy properly.
Basically for example if the file size is 1gb, the file while copying will copy fast the first 100mb then it copies very slowly like about 1mb in about 10 seconds. This will continue for some MB then again it will go fast. and again after a while it will go slow. This problem persists with all my files on the hard disk, both old and new.
Even when watching a movie directly form the HD it will get stuck in the middle and the scene will keep on repeating itself.
Also when i tried in torrent to force recheck the file instead of the checking occurring quickly it does the same as the copying stuff.. fast and slow
Also i know the file is not corrupted cause if i wait for the entire file to be copied no matter how lon it takes it then plays well without any problems.
I also tried copying files on different PCs but the problem was the same
I tried using segate sea tools but when i use long test it fails

A solution would be helpful cause i have a lot of backup on the drive

Hey Georgio. You did good by testing the drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tool. Unfortunately if it fails the tests the drive is probably not in a good condition at all. You should backup your most important data ASAP and then I'd recommend that you try the drive with a different USB cable (not longer than 12") and a different computer, then run the tests of the diagnostic tool again to see what results you get. If you get a high pending and reallocated sectors count, and you keep failing the tests, then I'd recommend that you contact the manufacturer's customer support if the drive is still under warranty and ask about RMA. If, on the other hand, the drive is failing and it's out of warranty, you could still use it until it dies, but I would recommend that you don't write any important data on it, which you can't afford to lose.

Hope that helps. Good luck.
