I currently have an old Harman/Kardon Go Play from ~2008. View: https://imgur.com/a/sUnH3Ge

It needs AC power and the charger is clunky and loud, the speaker has an old i-pod slot.
But best of all, it has insane bass, and overall extremely good audio quality.

I tried the JBL Xtreme 2, and was "xtremely" disappointed. I has relatively no bass compared to the harman/kardon, especially at high volumes.
I found out about the newer Go Plays, and am interested in those. However I'm afraid that it might be like other newer speakers where there is worse bass.

I need your help to find a portable speaker with deep bass, at all volumes. My budget is $300.
Bass is really the most important factor here, I cannot stress it enough.

Bass needs larger speaker and good power. Which is why the one you had was good, it was powered from wall power and has large space.

Head to a BestBuy or some other store and demo a few setups, see what you like. JBL Boombox (look for a used one to get lower price), Marshall Woburn https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OGPT17S/ref=sspa_dk_hqp_detail_aax_0?psc=1, Harman Kardon Go+Play like you have but there is a battery version, which looks to be discontinued to maybe look for used ones,
