Ported my Sprint number to Verizon

I finally bit the bullet and ported my number to Verizon yesterday.

I was surprised because after the sale and paperwork was done, as I was
walking onto my car in the parking lot, I got a text message welcoming me to
Verizon. My number was switched in less than one hour! I was expecting to
carry two phones for a while but not anymore.

I had very poor signal in my house with Sprint. I used to walk out a block
from my house if I use my cell phone to call long distance (I don't use land
line for long distance anymore). My new Verizon phone has a very good
signal/voice quality in my house. I can move around with no problem.

Anyway, I just want to share my "porting" experience.

Note: I made sure that the name/address I gave to Verizon is exactly the
same as the name/address on my Sprint account, dots and dashes must match.

Congratulations. I have read posts telling of stories that porting from
Sprint took 2-3 days, and others like yours that said it happened very
very fast. It is nice to read that Sprint does do *something* right
every once and a while. (However, if they did more things right, they'd
probably still have you as a customer. Heh heh)

You'll be very pleased with Verizon's signal strength and voice quality
inside buildings and such. Remember, you have 14 days with them so make
sure it all works out before your trial period runs out and you're
stuck. Good luck.

Another reason why I had to leave sprint is that I have been a good customer
and I had bad luck with my phones. Last October, I had my phone replaced
because the display was broke. Even though the phone was alive, the display
was dead. Last December I read an ad about Sprint existing customers may
upgrade to a new plan (in my case I wanted to upgrade to a Vision
Phone/Plan) and the phone will be discounted pretty good. But it turned out
that I was not elligible for the promo because I didn't have my phone for
"18 months". I called customer service and I told the rep that I really
wanted to upgrade to a vision plan and that it was not my fault that I had
to have my phone replaced. BUT, he said he cannot give a discount on the
phone.

So, goodbye.
