My ISP told me I have a runaway processor leaving ports open. I admit I know nothing about networking, but I do know a lot about computers. So I am very confused there's no way a CPU can cause that. I feel like the information got passed along wrong between the supervisor and the technician.
Ports being left open seems to be plausible though right? I just have no idea how to remedy that.
The problem can be recreated by loading up something like a twitch.tv vod. After awhile my speeds go from 30+ to anywhere between 1 and 15. Restarting the modem or PC fixes it.
By they way they came to this conclusion after hooking up another PC to the network and recreating the problem. Both PC's get slowed down, but after turning off my PC the other one returns to normal. So the problem does seem to be with my desktop PC.
