Possible bottleneck gaming

I recently got back into gaming but it seems I have lower fps in most games than expected.

I was wondering if anyone knows if I am getting a bottleneck somewhere

Specs:

CPU: I7 - 3930K
MOBO: P9X79 Pro
Mem: DDR3 Quad channel 24GB / DRAM Frequency: 667 MHz
GPU: Zotac Amp! GTX 1080

Not sure if this matters to much but I am running 3 monitors but only gaming on 1 single monitor.

Any help is appreciated

I'm assuming your running 667MHz DRAM with a double-data rate of 1333MHz. Even at 1333 that would likely present a memory bandwidth bottleneck with a GTX 1080. Start watching this video @ 02:45 to see how memory can affect performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYb0y8LNAVI&t=205s

*Maybe with quad-channel it's not a problem?? I'm not sure.

But before all that, I suppose I should ask what kind of fps are you seeing and on what game? Have you checked your temps for thermal throttling?

I saw the video but I am not sure how to tell exactly how my memory is running during load

I am running 6x Corsair Vengeance 4 GB DDR3 1600 MHz PC3 12800 240-Pin DDR3 Dual Channel Memory Kit 1.5V

I.E. running Diablo 3 on ultra @1080p I get drops from an average of 100 to 70 frames not doing anything. when another computer with much worse computer specs at the same settings does not get any of these issues.

As far as your memory, you should check in your BIOS to see at what speed your DRAM is running. It should show either 1333 or 1600, ensure it is 1600. If you have XMP enable that to ensure your timings are tight.

If these are your modules, (https://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIV00C20A7195&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleBizMKPL-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleBizMKPL-PC-_-pla-_-Memory+%28Desktop+Memory%29-_-9SIV00C20A7195&gclid=CJuV5dOvtdICFY62wAodpj8MHw) being 1.5V and CL 9, you could possibly overclock them to 2133MHz at 1.65V. I have similar RAM modules with the same speed, cas, and voltage as yours and I'm running them at 2133MHz, 1.65V, with timings of 11-12-12-36.

See: This program is HWInfo64 showing me my memory (PNY Anarchy 2x8GB DDR3 1600 1.5V CL9) and the memory clock 1066MHz x2(DDR/Double-Data Rate) for an effective 2133MHz.

Ensure you have proper air flow in your case. All of this may or may not fix your issue.
