Possible bottlenecks in my setup? GTX 980Ti @ 1440p

Hi all,

I would be grateful if someone could take a look at my setup below and let me know if you can see any potential bottlenecks?

I seem to be getting a bit of lag when playing certain games that I assume my GPU should be more than capable for (e.g. Skyrim Special Edition).

Setup below:

GPU - GTX 980 Ti Hybrid 6GB
CPU - Intel i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz
Motherboard - GA-797M-DS3H
PSU - 850w
HDD -1000GB
RAM - 16GB
Monitor - Asus ROG Swift PG279Q
OS - Windows 7

Just to add to (and bump) this - often the stuttering happens just after I save or load a game, or when new areas of the game are loading, which suggests to me that it might be a hard drive issue.

Is it possible that the HDD is a bottleneck and I should be looking at a good SSD instead?
