Possible Combat Bug

Hi all,

in a game where I´m Scavenger, I have set a few Inamoratas to intercept a
bot Cats Paw.
The Intercept worked apparently, as my ships are now at the same position as
the Cats Paw.
However, they failed to engage the bot ship, there is no VCR (they will
probably be blown away by a detonating nova, but thats beside the point).
Yes, I have the bot as enemy, my ships have attack soft, attack dangerous,
attack all enemy ships

I do have, however, 5 Minor Ship Conflic messages from the area, all stating
4 ships in the area (my three Inamoratas and the Cats Paw)

There seems to be something wrong here

Something very familiar happened to Ilja and me this week. A group of
60+ Inamoratas were set to intercept two ACBs. They succeeded but did
not fight after reaching the enemy. They were of course set to "attack
all enemies" and the Cyborg's definitly an enemey ;-).

Do you have "Do not fire at disabled" active? If that is the case and
the CP is unarmed or too badly damaged to fight, then they don't
initiate combat!

Ralph & Fabian,

I also experienced this problem (as Scav) a while ago but First can you
answer a few questions?

1) Did you have the doomed Ships as part of a large fleet or group?
2) Did you set the Attack settings through the Group function "Match
Fleet Leader"?

If the answer to the above two questions are YES then:
I experienced the same problem around Host release 181 and I lost a lot
of ships from this type of problem more than once. Some ships fought,
others didn't.
I think that the Client is not setting the attack vectors correctly
within a fleet of ships when you ask it to "Match Fleet Leader". When
you set it, it all looks correct through the client, but this
information does not seem to be passed onto the Host correctly.
Ever since I got done by this bug, I have been setting the attack
vectors of all my ships individually and I have not experienced this
problem since.

If you still have the game files could you sent them on to Tim with the
above comment as an idea where to start looking for this problem if he
can find it.

I thought it was pretty wierd that I didn't get a chance to destroy
your ships and instead have to light them up in a blaze of glorious
Nova. I don't see how your attack settings could make me not have
combat with your ships. Pretty strange. I'm set to attack enemy as
well and didn't use any fleet commands with this particular ship.

P.S. I don't know what's hidden in this minefield of yours, but its
going to be fun finding out!

My Cat's Paw has no damage, is set to attack all enemy ships, and "Do
not fire at disabled" is turned off. This one has PTTs and SCs. If
there was a "kick scav butt" button then I'd turn that on too.

I formed a small fleet (actually, not even that, I let two of them just
escort the one, doing the intercept) with only the three Inamoratas and set
them manually (in the nav screen) to intercept the cats paw.
I also set the attack settings manually, only changing the attack vector for
ALL my ships at the start of a turn through the minister to something new.

Yes it does, IF the player using the UFC has attack all enemy ships OFF.
--> He won´t initiate combat, and my ship will also not initiate combat, as
it is getting a correct IFF signal.

Hm, this might be, even though the other CPs had PTTs.
Magik you´re reading?

Ok, I have mailed our game host and asked him to send the game files along
with a bug report to Tim.
