Hello!
My PC Rig Contains:
i7-4790k @ 4.6GHz
H55 CPU Liquid Cooler
AsRock Fatal1ty Gaming Motherboard
16GB G.SKill @ 1866MHz
ASUS ROG Strix 1070
144Hz 1ms Monitor

As PC Gamers are..they want the best possible performance and experience. As Im thinking about what i could upgrade i thought of the CPU. The CPU is "last gen" you would say and no that AMD Ryzen and SkyLake are a thing i was wondering if the Upgrade is worth the time. What would be a good upgrade from my 4790k for better gaming performance? Not looking to break the bank but keep the CPU/MB/Ram combo to about ~$600
I just want advice from the gaming community and people who know more about CPUs and PC Gaming performance!

Thanks guys!

It's not worth upgrading. It's a more than capable processor for today's needs and in the next few years. Use the time to build up more to save, and hold off until the upgrade will make a big difference rather than a barely noticeable difference.
Just wait for a few weeks and the CoffeLake 8700k will be here in full swing. It will be worth the upgrade with 6c/12t gaming performance. Till then, your cpu is more than capable for now.
But for the best gaming performance, you need a better card like the 1080ti as well.

Any expectations on how much "CoffeeLake" is gonna be?
Also not on the CPU Topic..but do you think a ram upgrade would be beneficial as well?
Like to a 2133 or 2400?

We don't know but its replacing the current generation KabyLake and Intel need to be competitively priced against Ryzen if they don't want to loose market share. My expectation is a small premium over the current generation which will diminish over a few months.

Oh yeah, but I'm still running an 8 year old AMD 955 black what do I know.
I don't know your needs/wants but a good CPU choice (well done btw) will serve a long time. performance has been at a near standstill for the past several generations compared to the early 2000's when an upgrade meant tripling/quadrupling performance. I hope to see days like that again but until we do a good CPU should last at least 5 years or in my case 9.
