Possible dead HDD?

Booting up an old dell inspiron 530 the machine posts, gets to post screen, begins loading(won't let me f2 for set-up or f12 so I can run dell diagnostic) finishes loading then freezes. All the while it sounds like the HDD is clicking/grinding.

Might try docking it to migrate the data to an SSD. But pooling the knowledge here to see what everyone thinks.

If you hear clicking and grinding from the drive it means it is likely dead.

It couldn't hurt trying to dock it and see if you could migrate any data, but if the drive refuses to boot at all and is making loud noises don't hold out too much hope.
