Possible fixes for a mobo that won’t post

Hello there, I have just upgraded a couple components in my pc, namely the ram and motherboard. I assembled the system outside of a case just to check that it would post. The first time I turned it on I was able to get into the bios, and like an idiot, I enabled xmp, which I was under the impression would do no harm. However, after I exited the bios, the screen froze before I could boot to windows. After many hard restarts the motherboard eventually said something like “boot img corrupted”. I was unsure what to do, so I reset the pc once again, and this time it said something like “overclock failed, resetting to default values. I thought this was a step in the right direction, but now the pc won’t even post. I have tried clearing the cmos using a jumper, but upon the next attempted post, the pc acknowledges that the cmos has been reset, but I am not able to go anywhere from there. Now the pc doesn’t post at all, and I’m worried I might have to RMA the thing. Not sure how long Msi takes to RMA, but it sounds like I may be without a computer for awhile.
My system specs are :
Msi b250m mortar arctic
Intel core i3 6100
Hyperx fury ddr4 8gb (2x4)
Evga 500bq
Sapphire HD 7950 boost
WD EZEX 1tb hdd.

Thanks in advance for any replies, this is starting to frustrate me.
