Thanks.

Firstly thanks for the quick replies.
@VincentP absolutely positive its the hdd as I removed it from the laptop and tried connecting it to my computer but it didn't work and it kept making the screeching sound I also put another hdd I had in the laptop and the laptop started working, and I know I need a new drive but I want to know if there are any kind of fixes that can be done to get the drive working again, are you aware of the freezer trick? if yes then what is it?

@stillblue not sure what you mean but I tried connecting the hdd in question by putting it in a usb enclosure.

The freezer trick is to freeze the disk. Because different materials are involved some will shrink more than others possibly allowing the disk to run if only for a short time. It is not a fix, just a last ditch effort to recover some data.

What I was suggesting was an external usb adapter in the event there was a dent or such in the enclosure putting pressure on the disk.

If you try the freezer trick, put the driveinto a zip lock bag gettinig out as much air as you can. Then put that into another zip lock and again getting as much air out as you can. Some suggest a 3rd bag. Freeze it overnite and be ready to recover the data when you take it out. You may not have much time to recover data (if any) and if it works at all you may only get the one chance at it.

Well since I'm almost completely out of options I might try the freezer trick, and if I am able to get the drive up and working again and am able to get back at least some data back then I'll be sure to post my results. Thanks everyone for your replies.
