Possible for 2 routers in one home?

Hello guys. So I'm having this problem where my brother is using the 5.0GHz network while my laptop is only able to connect to 2.4GHz. But the problem is that the 2.4GHz is very poor and I get alot of packet loses, random disconnects etc. So I was wondering if it was possible to run 2 routers in one home as one is used for 5.0GHz and one is used for 2.4GHz.

Yes it is possible. Run LAN cable from existing routers LAN port to the WAN port of the new router. You will not be able to see any devices connected to the existing router but you will get internet on the new router. You need to use a different SSID (network name) on the new router.

If you need to be able to access other devices on the network, say in order to share files, then you will need to setup the new router as a Wireless Access Point. There are guides out there I have used before, I don't have links handy so you might just need to Google it. But not too difficult to do.
