This is my build on a gaming PC. Games I'm looking to play are BF4, Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn, and SC2. Of course I want to be able to play next-gen games as well.

Intel Core i7-4770k
MSI Z87-G41
Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1600ghz
WD 1TB Caviar Black 7200RPM
Samsung 840 EVO 120 SSD
Corsair Hydro H100i Liquid Cooling
EVGA Super clocked GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB
Corsair Professional Series HX650 650W
Windows 7 Home Premium
Boxed in a NZXT Guardian Blue

I'm new to building computers so any help with my greatly appreciated! I want something that won't break the bank but can get decently high FPS and run smoothly. I want it around or less than $1000.

Not HUGE amount but you honestly won't see much difference. Plus it kills your CPU life quicker.

What effects does dropping memory down to 8GB have?

Done properly it doesn't kill your CPU life, as long as it is properly cooled, and not massively overvolt it.

So if I wanna overclock the CPU would the Corsair H100i sufficiently cool it?

Quick question on the mother board. What's the difference between a Z87-G41 and a Z87-G43?

Can anyone recommend me a decent optical drive as well?
