I recently bought the BenQ GW2760HS. It is a VA panel and I understand they aren't the fastest things out there. But it is advertised at 4ms so I'm wondering if the issue I'm experiencing is directly related to response times, or something else.
This problem is only noticeable in games. Basically what's happening is that things appear brighter when the screen is still, but get darker when you move or look around. It's mostly apparent on finely detailed textures, or scenes with high contrast. For example, if I look up at a tree against the sky and then look back and forth, the details of the tree appear to get darker and lighter as I move my crosshair around the screen.
I do use the "Premium" AMA setting instead of the default "High" which noticeably reduces motion blur while gaming, but this effect I'm describing is apparent either way. I'm guessing it is related to motion blur/ghosting but I'm just not sure. I previously had a IPS panel which had a 5ms response time and did not have this issue whatsoever, even though the panel was supposedly 1ms slower than the BenQ VA.
If anyone has any input on this that would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
