Well the 980ti is probably the best performer right now. No telling what's going to happen when dx12 comes. But yes the 980ti is a very good choice. That or a r9 fury x would be my suggestion.

All depends on what you want.

You may want to wait for nvidia's next gen gpu's then if that's the case. Apparently there's some sort of controversy where the maxwell cards don't have full dx 12 support.

With the AMD r9 fury x you'll be future proofed for a long time. With the benefit of liquid cooling. I just prefer amd though, so I'm kind of biased lol.

why would the fury x be better choice over a 980ti what makes the fury x future proof the 980ti

Simple. The 980 TI as well as the other maxwell series cards do not support async shaders in dx12. Which means the architecture doesn't fully support dx12. AMD cards are however, and that's why they see the biggest performance increase from dx12. The benchmarks on Ashes of the Singularity have an R9 290x beating a 980ti in some of the benchmarks. A 290x.

DX12 will be a game changer and amd's cards are going to reap in the most benefits. That's the future proof i was referring to. But again if you want to stay with nvidia you can wait for the next gen. Those will probably have full dx12 support. http://wccftech.com/amd-r9-290x-fast-titan-dx12-enabled-3dmark-33-faster-gtx-980/

ah ok i was looking it up and supposedly the 980ti has dx12 support idk if maybe i read an old article...the way gpus are being released there isnt any future proofing lol but i wanna buy a gpu that will last me a while. the 2 760s that i have are 2gb models so the 980 ti 6gb is looking very good to me lol i can already feel the 2gb holding me back lol i was looking at the regular 980 and it costs about 400 so thats very tempting. i wanna run them in sli but 2 980 ti are gonna be quit expensive lol

Ive been looking around and i guees that the maxwell architecture will have some dx 12 support but not all the way. Idk if i wanna wait till pascal cokes out. I was thinking of 2 980 in sli...they would put me close to the speed of a titan and id be able to run 4k...whould those last me a while or am i better off waiting
