So recently I replaced my motherboard with an x570 auros elite. And I also got a brand new ssd to go along with my hdd. when I first turned it on I was able to get into windows, but my ethernet wasn't working so I restarted it. Now when I turned it on it went to automatic repair, so I waited. then it mentioned that it was fixing hard drive errors or something like that. I waited for it to do its thing which took the entire night, and it got to windows again! however i tried to open up an application and it complety reset and took me to the gigabyte loading screen. its been like this for a while, should i just let it keep going? i even tried to complety factory reset through the advanced option on windows. im going to try a few more things, please let me know if anyone has ideas.

Solution
it was a crappy a320k motherboard, it was a pretty big upgrade
Reinstall your OS. (and everything else)

Changing motherboards, there are 3 possible outcomes:
  1. It boots up just fine
  2. It fails completely
  3. It boots up, but you're chasing issues for weeks/months.

You are in #3.
Full OS reinstall.
