ok so i currently have this laptop from walmart :
http://
HP Silver 17.3" Pavilion 17-g121wm Laptop
AMD quad-core A10-9700P processor
1.8GHz (with Max Turbo Speed of 3.2GHz), 2MB L2 Cache
8GB DDR3L SDRAM system memory
AMD Radeon R6 graphics with 4352MB total graphics memory

and here is the new one i am considering for an upgrade:
http://
HP Pavilion 15-au018wm 15.6" Liquid Platinum Gaming Laptop
Intel Core i7-6500U processor 2.50 GHz, with a Max Turbo Speed of 3.10 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 940MX Graphics with 2 GB DDR3L of dedicated video memory, 12GB memory

Ok so ive done a little bit of bench mark research and found the second laptop (gaming HP laptop) would have a better graphics card (onboard 2gigabytes memory, higher mhz), 4 gigs more of ram, and comes cpu clocked @ 2.5.

Heres my main questions...
The new(er) laptop comes stock CPU clocked higher as my laptop now is at 1.8 factory CPU clocked. So the new laptop would a higher/faster CPU, but heres the catch... my current laptop is running a quad core and the new laptop would only be a dual core. I compared benchmarks and the dual core still out runs the quad core. Are these bench marks accurate? Is the dual core better than the quad CPU because of the speed boost?

Also, it says on walmarts website "AMD Radeon R6 graphics with 4352MB total graphics memory
." and the new laptop is "NVIDIA GeForce 940MX Graphics with 2 GB DDR3L of dedicated video memory" So since the nvidia runs onboard memory would that make it better?

To sum it up i basically am just asking for some advice on if the "gaming laptop" is worth the extra money to upgrade to because of its increased RAM, CPU speed, and graphics card? I use this game primarily for gaming. Main games played are CS:GO and World of Warcraft.

any advice would be greatly appreciated,
I'm really do not know too much about current PC specs/technology.

You can build a desktop for...

Around $700 budget, thanks for the reply btw! Would I be better off ordering parts off new egg for that budget numbers of 700ish and just building my own rig? Like building a rig from scratch i mean? Or is $700 not enough to build a PC/desktop from scratch with my own parts?

You can build a desktop for gaming easily with $700, and if you don't care if it's a desktop or a laptop, a desktop will be faster and up-gradable for the same price. Do you need a monitor/keyboard/mouse also? That will give you maybe $550 for the core parts if you do, or if you up the budget by about $100-200 you can get a good system that will last an extra year or two without upgrades.
