Possible patch bug??

I'm racking my brains and this is all I can think of. Early on Garrett is
tasked to root around in the Keeper Library for information on the Dark Age.
I had no trouble with this objective first time thru, and unless I misremember
frightfully believe it was satisfied by .....

reading one of two copies of a poster entitled 'Notice from the Council
regarding the impending Dark Age,' one of which was tacked up on the first
floor, the other on the second. (With first and second floor referring to the
floors connected by the elevator.)

Yet this time reading the posters -- even reading both of them -- leaves the
objectives unchecked. The only thing that is different is that I downloaded and
installed the patch. Is it possible that the patch is screwed up? Are there
any other possibilities?? Should I restart?

Have you read everything in the library? I remember it being a book,
not a poster.

I had this happen to me too and it didn't go away until I had cleared the
gale and gone back and read a book on the second floor.

Good Luck

Book? There is no open book on the second floor. All the books in the two
circular rooms are neatly shelved. The only reading matter accessible is the
poster on the wall.

And surely that was what you read. So I need to visit the Gale first, huh?

Ok.

Coming up the elevator, turn right into the first circular room. Directly
across from you is a podium with a closed book on the left side, and an open
book on the right. The one on your right is the one with the Dark Age
information (basically where the next two missions take place)

Ah yes. Reading it doesn't get my objective checked off, though. But as
you said, I need to hit the Gale, come back, and try again.

Always happy to visit the rowboat bug down at the docks. Just have to be
careful not to try it with archers ...

Yep. Worked that way for me too. Cleared the Gale, gave the widow
some wine, came back, reread the book, and this time the objective
cleared.

Wonder what that was about?
