Hello all,

I have an odd problem with my WiFi drivers, or at least I believe. I have an MSI GS63VR 7RF Stealth Pro-252. I have noticed that sometimes when I am using an Ethernet connection and disconnect it after use wifi no longer shows up. I will have to either restart or completely uninstall drivers for the Intel wireless card. I have noticed if I put my computer to sleep (close lid) and then disconnect Ethernet, wifi works normally. I am fairly certain it is related to Ethernet.

This might be something I have to deal with, however I suspect it could be issues with driver compatibility or maybe even an issue with Windows 10's Ethernet - Wifi switching capabilities. Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Solution
Are you sure that only one network adapter (wired or wireless) is enabled?

Also check that the laptop is not putting adapter(s) to sleep to save power.

And do check that the respective drivers are up to date. Download via the manufacturer's website.

Use "ipconfig /all" via the command prompt to check your adapters and configuration settings.

Look for possible duplicate IP addresses on your network - especially if any devices are using static IPs.

Solution
I use both wifi and ethernet interchangeably (University campus). I am fairly certain I changed the settings so that wireless won't be turned off for power-saving, plus I usually have it plugged in when using ethernet so no power-saving options should take effect. I will check on manufacturer drivers to make sure. Could be a duplicate IP from the U's network. Thanks for the quick response!
