Possible Seagate Hybrid (Momentus XT) Issues

Hi everyone,

I have an awful recurring crash issue that I've narrowed down to either a dying HDD Hybrid or dying Motherboard.

I want to test the NAND Flash Cache on my 750GB Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid SATA III 7200 RPM w/ 4GB NAND Flash Cache and 32MB Buffer

model ST 750 LX 003-1AC154-ATA --- I added spaces for easier reading

Currently I have found ZERO support on this issue, but I cannot really buy a new motherboard or HDD without first testing this drive.

When I boot, there is a long spin up now that was never there before. When before the BIOS popped up within 1 second, now there is an audible groan on the drive and the BIOS takes over 4 seconds to show up. Boot times have also increased by over 15 seconds over a once amazing 25 second boot up.

I've done every possible test on every component on my laptop and everything checks out without errors and no overheating. Even the HDD portion of my drive checks out, however, in my intuition I am sensing that the issue is the storage drive. So my hunch is the SSD is finally worn out causing the crashes even though the HDD portion is fine.

I have had the drive for 4 years and the SSD portion is only 4GB so chances are EXTREMELY high that the SSD cache has reached a level of wear and tear that it's now failing.

Everything takes longer to do. A dying motherboard would not cause these issues but it could.

If anyone knows a way to:
1) Disable the SSD portion of the drive
or
2) Test the SSD portion of the drive
or
3) Something I haven't though of that doesn't include spending money

then please let me know. This is a very troubling issue.

TESTS PERFORMED and PASSED:
Prime95
Using Memtest 86+
Windows Memory Diag.
AIDA64
OCCT 4.4.1
3D Mark
AMD System Monitor
CPU-ID Performance Monitor
CPU-ID Hardware Monitor
Seagate SeaTEST Drive tester

In case you haven't went to the seagate site & they have something listed, or trying their Seatools (although I don't know if it checks the SSD portion)"

yeah, the drive passed all the tests however nothing indicated a test on the SSD portion. I imagine it's automated through the firmware that all writes are cached through the SSD. Maybe it is the mobo, I dunno. I don't want to spend $150 on an old M17-R1 mobo sold from ICP.de in Germany just to have nothing resolved
