Possible to Access Shared Folders Across Two Networks?

Hello,

I have two different PC's on separate Networks, One router that is connected into the cable modem from my ISP and has my work computers in it is acting as a internet server to the other router (home network). I would like to access shared folders in Windows 10 from a PC on the 'work network' to a PC on a 'home network'. I can hit the work router from the home network but not the shared folders on the home network from the PC on the work network. I am probably missing something very simple.

Can someone clear my stupidity?

Solution
the point of your setup is to keep things separate. you can work around this by using the route command to tell the windows 10 PC to use the home network router as gateway to get to the home network PC.

or you can make things simple, get rid of one of the routers (replace with a switch if more ports are needed) and put everything on the same network

You are missing nothing. Your "work router / PCs" appear as part of the Internet for your "home PCs", therefore they are accessible. On the other hand, "home PCs" are behind a router for "work PCs", and are therefore inaccessible (in the same way as your "work PCs" are not accessible straight from over the Internet).

There is no simple solution to your problem. Once you need file / folder access across networks, there is little need to have second router. You might do some port-forwarding on the home router for Microsoft protocols, but this will let you access only one PC. I would either flatten out the network (eliminaring the "home router"), or change the workflow so that no access to home network is necessary.
