[SOLVED] Possible to add 2 Magic R15 chips to a Geforce GTX 1070, to make it work like an 1080? (Gigabyte)

Hello, I found someone's video on youtube, showing how to switch fans in his 1080 (Gigabyte). I watched it for the purpose of cleaning my 1070 after a long time of being stored (had dust after 2 years of usage). It seems like my 1070 and his 1080 are looking and built exactly the same. The only difference is that his 1080 has 8 chips of MAGIC R15, while mine has room for 8, but including in it are only 6. My question is: Does anyone know if it's possible to add 2 more of those MAGIC R15 to my 1070, and by that to upgrade it to work like a 1080?? If so - where can I get such 2 chips? And any info regarding best practices with those (mainly the DONTs) would be well appreciated as well. Thanks!

They are not the same. You can not make GTX 1080 out of GTX 1070.
They have different type of vram. GTX 1080 has GDDR5X, GTX 1070 has GDDR5.
They have different chip configuration (different number of cuda cores enabled). GTX 1080 has 2560 cuda cores, GTX 1070 has 1920 cuda cores.

Thats not how this works.

While adding them shouldn't be THAT big of a deal if you're good with soldiering the actual GPU chip in a 1070 has a portion of it disabled making it a 1070. So adding a pair of inductors which are just voltage related, will do nothing for you. Its also not something where you can just turn those missing CUDA cores on and go.

If it was that simple it would have been done already.
