Possible to raid diffrent HD's?

I have a Maxtor 40gig 7200rpm and a Western Digital 40 gig 7200, is it possible to raid them or I cant because they are made by diffrent companies?

If they are both ULTRA DMA, and the ATA is the same probably 100 then they'll work together just fine go for it.

Course if one drive is noticably slower at certain tasks then the slowest drive will determine the speed overall.

really its best using two of the same. less potential problems
