Possible to recover from a corrupt volume on hard disk?

Is it possible to recover/repair from a corrupt volume on a hard disk? and if so how would someone go about doing that on a laptop?

If the drive is still physically good, the simplest thing is to reinstall. If the drive isn't physically good, and/or the data is valuable/critical enough to pay to retrieve, you may use a data recovery service to retrieve it.
