Basically I have a broken laptop with a broken MOBO so it wont get past the loadup screen

is it possible to somehow transfer the data off that laptop to another HDD or SSD?

all I have are various USB cords ..would I have to buy a sub enclosure?

ok ty for answers, I do have these SATA cords ( i think they're sata cords) but it says they are ''Designed for SATA3 6 gb/s or something like that..is it safe to plug these sata cords into my desktop PC and the laptop HDD? I heard PC's and laptops use different HDDs like laptops use 2.5 and desktops 3.5 or something like that

could I potentially fry my motherboard?

these is what im talking about

2.5 and 3.5 simply refer to the size of the HDD in inches. The connectors and power requirements are basically identical.

so it would be safe to plug it in?

and what about the power, do I use a whole separate cord such as this one ( im assuming) http://i.imgur.com/nFqvFJK.jpg

or the cord that I plugged into my SSD (which still has like 3 extensions)

And I have two sata cords, a ''normal'' looking one, and the one where one of its heads is like a hammer, I was told to use the one with the ''hammer''

and does it matter if i plug the SATA cord into SATA 1 SATA 2 or SATA 3 ports , do I have to follow the order?

You can use any SATA power cord - even the one your SSD is plugged into. They're all rated for the same power output regardless of whether any devices are 'chained'.

You can also use any SATA data cord - I'm not sure what you mean by a hammer, but there are right angled ones?

SATA order shouldn't matter.
