Possible to upgrade?

I have an HP Pavilion p6714y as my main rig and i put a Radeon HD 5450 in it to make it slightly less of a toaster but I want to upgrade it more. I have an idea for a GPU but when it comes to the CPU i have no idea what to do because on HP's website it says the motherboard is compatible only with AM2+ socket cpu's but under cpu information it says that it has an AM3 socket. It is the AMD Athlon II X4 640. Is there a possible upgrade for this cpu?

It looks like it's AM3+ socket. But, you're going to be seriously hampered by BIOS compatibility. Save your money, and put it towards something new all together. Use that Pavillion for something like a pfSense build or something like that.

It's am2+ and supports am3. Am3+ will not work. The best you can get is 3.2ghz vs your 3.0ghz so is not really worthwhile.
