Possible upgrade to 6800K or just overclock for now

I have a problem with many variables involved, and no matter how much I think or 'research', I can't quite decide what to do, so I'm asking you folks for your opinions.

The gist of the dilemma is that I don't know whether to upgrade now or to wait until later. I use the computer for gaming, streaming and creating/editing videos for YouTube (using Premiere Pro and After Effects).

Currently I have the following setup:

This has done me well for a couple of years now but I think I need to upgrade the 4770K as I do feel the strain when compositing in AE, particularly 3D camera tracking. Obviously, if I upgrade the CPU, I also need a new motherboard and new DDR4 RAM. Money is not that much of an issue, but better bang for my buck is definitely important. I am willing to dump around £800 to £900 GBP into upgrading.

So the questions I've been asking myself is, should I go for a 6800K (it seems to be pretty tasty and not prohibitively expensive) water-cooled with 32GB RAM, or is there anything on the horizon that I should wait for? I am under the impression that Kaby Lake will not be delivering enthusiast CPUs until mid 2017.

Another option is to just OC the poop out of the 4770K (currently @4.0GHz, but obviously could properly OC for more) and hold out for mid 2017. This may be a decent option as I plan on playing a lot of Star Citizen which may be released in 2017 (I'm in the Alpha anyway, so I play it now too).

So that's one part of my question. The other question is about my workflow. Currently I have one SSD for Windows and programs, the other two are in RAID 0. What I do is record my videos onto the RAID drive then render them onto the boot drive. This is most likely not optimal, so what would be the recommended setup here?

Sorry for the massive, rambling question. Well done if you've made it this far, and thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to answer :)

Liquid does not significantly improve overclock over decent air coolers.
It can make things quite.
I'd recommend getting EK Predator 240 as it's probably the best AiO with reasonable 160$ price tag considering the components quality and performance.
In order to install decent liquid cooling you need other case. Fractal Design Define S (or the new C) are probably the best for liquid cooling and airflow
Well, first I'll address the CPU question. The 6800K or even 6770K will be faster than the 4770K. The question is by how much.
Do you really care if the task will be completed in 60 minutes or 50?
You can easily clock the 4770K to 4.5GHz and it will help it a bit. Just check what is the CPU load (as well as other resources) when you "feel the strain" ;)
Anyway, Intel will introduce their optane (3D point) memory to the masses next year and than even more fun things like unified RAM/Storage. that would be quite an improvement to your workloads as the files don't have to be copied from storage to ram and back.
Not to mention that 6-8 core will become "mainstream" next year.
Unfortunately there is no M.2 slot on your MB but you can use one with PCIe adapter -> NVMe versions like Samsung 950/960 Pro are much faster than your raided SATA setup.
Your case while nice, is not the best for liquid cooling/airflow -> good candidate for upgrade.
So bottom line you probably just want to upgrade something, but don't really need to :)
You can have some fun by upgrading the case.
You can also start thinking about watercooling - it's fun, it's beautiful, it can make your system more compact while keeping it quieter and cooler (if you go custom loop) but it does not meaningfully improve performance.
Getting Samsung 960 EVO/PRO M.2 drive is also an option if you find that your storage is not performing as well as you'd expect.

Overclock the hell out of the cpu and wait to see how amd zen turns out.it most probably be competitive enough AT LEAST to force price drops on intel cpus and you will get better options and bang for the buck.

I'd say get the last out of your 4770k via overclocking. We'll see the x299 dropping next year along with Skylake and Kaby-lake X which will provide better IPC and overclocking. It will be the better upgrade IMO. Overclock your 4770k while waiting if you were to ask me.

You guys are right, particularly n0ns3ns3 when saying I just *want* to upgrade rather than needing to.

I'll OC my current cpu for now, maybe even invest in watercooling to help out (hoping that it's compatible with future sockets).

Thanks for all the input and helping me clarify my thoughts.
