Hey,

I have had the same PC for a year now and it has been fine no trouble. However, I don't know whether it's a virus or something I need to uninstall. I have checked my list of programs to see if I did need to uninstall something and couldn't find anything. I checked my extensions on Google chrome too and nothing in there that is unusual. The problem is, that I am getting random pop-ups and new Updates for windows 7 when I know they are fake. Also it is automatically opening a new tab on my Google Chrome. I have a form of anti-virus called 'Trend micro titanium' however it doesn't seem to pick up any threats. Therefore I am struggling to find out what the problem is.

All Help appreciated.

Thanks
George Waite

this is called...

this is called adware and it can be removed by installing a plugin on google chrome called adblock or popup blocker ..
these are annoying ads that follow you everywhere even in places you know no ads should be ..
alternately you could do a antivirus scan as the other member suggested but based on experience that never gets rifd of the problem

And as suggested always run adblock if you are on the internet. I however turn it off on youtube because i like supporting the content creator. You can also look at noscript but it requires a little more committment than adblock

Malwarebytes and HitmanPro are the two malware tools I would recommend using to spot adware/malware.

Using and ad blocker will always help, and disabling Java script will help improve your browser security a LOT. If don't genuinely need Java for anything, remove it completely. It's just a liability to most people.
