Enough of that.

Anyway, I was in the puppy cave earlier today with my dark elven Necromancer
(Love the things) when I encountered a 7*5(?) scroll shop. Yummy. Anyway,
I'll draw a very brief sketch since I was too lazy to screenshot.

Anyway, you get the idea (Rest of the map was also unexplored, found a
hidden door later)

So, I drop my slave at the enterance, pass it, tell it to wait, go in, pick
up all the scrolls and have 3 other (Babysat to about 6 levels higher than
me at the time) shadows 'protecting' me.

Well, robbed the shop and my ghul stopped the shopkeeper from coming
anywhere near me, my shadows dispatched the thugs with a little help from
me. But what amazed me was the fact that after all but 3 of the thugs were
dead, the shopkeeper came charging up the hallway to the > stairs from his

He'd pacified himself and was as happy as Larry, and I'd just made off with
enough scrolls to tip me past Burnered and into Strained.

Is this behaviour documented?

I have never seen it. I've won with a couple of dark elven
necromancers, but those wins were in older versions. One of those
necromancers was pure evil, C- as soon as possible, never converting
from C. Gamma 9 IIRC. He robbed numerous shops including the Casino
and had an incredibly powerful quickling king slave - level 110 by the
end of the game - but I have never seen the behavior you describe.

I was C- at the time, is it possible that my ghul could have gotten a hit
into him that paralyzed him, and he eventually gave up on the idea of combat
with me after my ghul had died, and returned to the sanctuary of his shop?
