possiblitiy of failure in a component affecting other parts?

recently i made a thread about motherboard failure and it go me thinking, can it affect my other components?
What are the percentage of it harming my other components?

I'm just taking extra precaution and mentally preparing myself,IF it does happen to kill or harm my other parts.

short or fried power supplies could potentially damage other components , electrostatic discharge could harm RAM or graphics memory

Other than that you are pretty safe
