Possibly faulty components

i have a very important question to ask. so i booted up my computer the other day and all i got was a beep, the back led fan flashing and then i thought i seen a puff of smoke (it was really dark so i am not completely sure). anyway i panicked opened it up and seen no trace of any visible damage, however since it has started working again issues such as my peripherals not working from boot ect have been occurring.

my question is, do i replace the motherboard and psu to ensure it doesn't kill my other components (possibly further) plus i don't want to put in my new gpu or my system to then die and take it down to hell with it , that would be a nightmare.

its an xfx 650w gold xtr, so its not exactly a cheap one

Your psu is excellent. Likely not an issue.

A puff of smoke is bothersome. That is, if it really happened.
Seems like you don't know for certain, or, where it happened.

If you are having other issues, I might next suspect the motherboard.
That is where your peripherals are attached.

If you are lucky, the issue might have been your graphics card for which you have areplacement.
