Windows 10, 1 TB seagate hdd. Built the system myself from scratch about a year ago.
A few days ago my comp began to reset itself. Only once on the first day, but no big deal. Checked for errors and it was a bugfix crash pointing to a bad for the GPU. I updated and tried to locate all weird files and fix them, but the crashes persisted.
Then the pixelating began. Different programs would show odd colored pixels, and then the crashes would reboot into a solid color screen forcing another hard reset. It would boot into safemode then but not with networking. I still thought it was hardware.
By day three or four, it stopped booting all together, only allowing me to get into the boot option screen from where it would not allow reseting the PC, booting into safe mode, or windows repair.
Since the I have tried Herims boot tools to find viruses. Antimalware finds several, attempts to clean them, asks for a rebbot (of which it will not do) and then does nothing.
I have tried booting into Ubuntu to look at the drive but it gives me no option to look at the drives.
Any modification to the HDD from any source results in an error.
I finally decided to boot up into a windows ISO to reformat and restart and it blocked me from even doing that. Gets to the reset portion at the end of installation and then refuses to boot.
Every option to look into the HDD says all files are gone. I am at a loss. What kind of virus does this? The viruses being seen by antimalwarebytes are things like trojan.av and malware.gen stuff, but nothing that would destroy a hdd.
What is going on? Any help is appreciated.
