I bought my friend a desktop , when I was setting it up there were no problems and few minutes later , he said that the pc was making a loud noise and it shut off. It didn’t turn on but just the green light on the case was on , but when I removed the gpu it started but the bios made few beeps (one long 3 short). Before I removed the gpu I felt static from it , after I removed the gpu there were none. Is it possible to fix the pc by just buying and putting in a new gpu?

the gpu: gt 250
Motherboard:gigabyte ga-f2a58m-s1

According to this, that's a graphics card error. So yes, there is an issue with that card. Can't say I know what it is, possibly a shorted power component since you felt static and even smelled something burning. So if you're really curious you should teardown the card and inspect the board.

But yeah, you need a new graphics card. If you have an AMD CPU on this board that has integrated graphics, then you may use that for the time being. If your CPU doesn't have integrated graphics then you'll need a new dedicated graphics card.
