How do people see other poster's details? I've experienced other people
telling others that they can see the location they post from and other
details. I'm using OE, is it possible with this or is it a special news
reader?

Well, that's my 2 cents worth for today.
Damn you all top posters!

If your newsreader allows it, view the full message, including its
headers. (In Mozilla, the menu option is View/Message Source.) In
your case, your post's headers include this line:

Message-ID: <c6pls0$esoc3$1@ID-207118.news.uni-berlin.de>

A hostname ending in .de is somewhere in Germany, and "uni-berlin"
sounds like it belongs to the University of Berlin. Note that this is
the location of the server you're posting through, and not necessarily
your own location. (Most posters' hostnames are not that easy to
determine the location of, but there are ways, especially for commercial
operations that can buy the large, but not totally accurate, databases
of IP/location data that some people compile and sell.)

Right-click a message!

Properties!

Details!

There they are!

I generally use this to view the Message Source, though, since OE does some
odd things to posts at times. Seeing ACSII images, for instance.

Thanks for the info. In one case someone mentioned my ISP and location
because I asked if they could tell, because someone else had theirs told.
Yeah my server is a German one although I'm not even in Europe.

NNTP-Posting-Host: 163.c.002lg.syd.iprimus.net.au (210.50.98.163)

I was a bit suspicious of my conclusions when it looked like an
Australian computer (your location) was posting through a German server.
But I take it that really is what's happening here.

Now why didn't I think of that?
