is it me or the release of the 28Watts skylake is taking forever? besides macbook pro 13 inches, are there any likely users of this chip? is the Iris 550 going to be a considerable gain over 540?

It was announced in 3Q15, with scheduled availability in 1Q16. Usually this means it release right at the end of that period. I guess you're just a tad excited (like a kid waiting for Christmas 😉 )

It probably will take 3-6 months for laptops to roll out. The chip will not be available in retail channels, as it is a BGA chip that requires soldering to mount.

Until it's available, you're going to have to read Intel's assessment of graphics performance. It's probably going to have about 1/3rd more cores than the predecessor graphics, and with the better eDRAM it might well perform better than most low-end graphics cards. Still not better than the minimum GTX 950 type, though...
